Government incentive effect of BBM Anticipation in Four Sectors

Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa said that the government is able to reduce the impact of rising prices of subsidized fuel oil through the four sectors. “The government is trying to protect people affected by rising oil prices, by providing direct assistance while the community (BLSM), giving Raskin of the 13th and the 14th, assistance for poor students and transport subsidies,” said Hatta in Jakarta, Wednesday (03/14)

To BLTS according to Hatta will be given to around 74 million people or 30 percent of people with lower economic income. “Proposed temporary BLSM is Rp150 thousand per household target (RTS) which amounted to 18.5 million RTS, when an RTS consists of four people, it is intended for the 74 souls BLSM people with low income,” says Hatta.

Even aid funds in accordance with budget cuts obtained from the relevant ministries and institutions; according to Finance Ministry of Finance notes, scale BLSM is Rp25, 6 trillion. “Next is the routing of the 13th month Raskin has been running 17.5 million RTS and the RTS 14 to 18.5 million,” said Hatta.

Then aid for poor students, the amount which has been running according to Hatta added Rp3, 4 trillion. As for public transport subsidies, governments provide Rp 5 trillion to transport based on` PSO `as trains and ships,” said Hatta. But for the public transport operated by the District Transport Association (Organda), Hatta requested that the Minister of Communications, Organda and local government discussions to get the exact rate patterns with the help of Rp 5 trillion.

“The main reason is because the increase in fuel subsidies, there is a tendency to swell and rising oil prices, so if there is no estimate of the price increase will be inhaled for the subsidy,” said Hatta. According to government calculations, mass without increase of fuel price subsidies will reach Rp178, 62 trillion, but with rising oil prices, the subsidy can be pressed Rp137, 38 trillion.

The subsidy figure, assuming crude oil prices Indonesia (ICP) 105 U.S. dollars per barrel, Rp9.000 per U.S. dollar exchange rate, and quota BBM 40 million kiloliter. But off course, that will be on the assumption side, If price is to be risen later on the whole calculation will become a dreadful one with drastic change has to be made

Indonesia’s able to conquer and control the economy for 2012

Indonesia’s economy figures for the month of January and February looks pretty good yesterday. Some data released showed that domestic economic growth is still excellent and not too affected by the troubled noisy global economy which still continues to soar.

January inflation is slower

Inflation in January slowed for five consecutive months. Modest rise in food prices and controlled the cause of the slow inflation. Annual inflation in January was at 3.65% level. In December the previous annual inflation reached 3.79%.
Meanwhile, core inflation which excludes food products, fund the movement of fuel price volatility appears to have retardation as well. Core inflation rate in January slowed to the figure 4.29% (y / y) compared to 4.34% on the previous December.

Monthly inflation in January was thus appears to have increased. Monthly inflation reached 0.76% in January, up from 0.57% monthly inflation in the previous December.

Indonesia’s exports in 2011 Print Record

In addition to modest inflation figure, the better the economy of Indonesia is also seen from the impressive export figures. Exports in the year 2011 and scored a record high over the history of the 204 billion dollar figure. Indonesia successfully doubling its export performance in five years to date. Is very great achievement because many countries need more time to achieve such growth.

Gita Wirjawan, Indonesia’s Trade Minister gave an example that Saudi Arabia will take about 26 years to doubled their export value. While neighboring country of Indonesia, Singapore, will take 10 years. Even the time period required by China’s over six years time.

Total exports in the year 2011 shows an increase of 29% compared to the year 2010, which only reached 158 billion dollars. Previously the government has targeted exports of Indonesia in 2011 only reached 200 billion dollars.

Level of growth achieved in 2011 and is expected to tend to slow down in this 2012 year. Estimated that exports will tend to be stagnant, and only reached 205 billion dollars, or up 0.5%. Indonesia’s exports is still contact with the global economic performance. European and U.S. economic slow down will result in a lower demand for manufactured goods in the state.

Indonesia Travel Destinations Tourists Arrivals Increase

Indonesia’s foreign exchange from foreign tourists experienced a healthy increase in 2011 and, by 13% (y / y). The increase in foreign exchange along with the rising number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia. While the visit of foreign tourists increased by 9% to 7.7 million people. The average production is done by foreign tourists has gone up to 1,118 dollars a visit.

Through some of the economic figures we can conclude that so far Indonesia’s economy is still quite able to survive from the fierce storm crisis. Even so in the year 2012 will be a challenge for Indonesia to maintain the economic performance

It shows that car sales has increased rapidly, for that fact those world class automotive companies is rumored will flocked in investing in Indonesia in order to reap the opportunity to acquire a higher market.

Toyota has said that, it would invest 200 million dollars to implement a development plant in Indonesia. The company plans to increase production capacity to 230,000 units of vehicles per year in 2014 to come. The amount is more than double current production.

Apart from Toyota, who had become ruler of the car market for decades in Indonesia, companies like General Motors, Ford Motor and Tata Motors also began planning for the expansion to Indonesia. The companies plan to build new factories and new distribution network to reach more middle-class society in Indonesia.

Year 2013 sales of motor vehicles coming in Indonesia is expected to reach 1 million units. With the basic sales, Indonesia will become the country’s largest car market in the world. In addition to higher sales levels, the level of car ownership among the people of Indonesia is still relatively low. Means that the market is so large they are still room for a big growth. With the fourth largest population in the world, Indonesia is expected to become the country with the largest car market growth in the world.

Currently expected to be less than one twentieth of the population of Indonesia has a car. Means for the moment, 240 million people in Indonesia, only about 12 million people who own a car. As potential markets, Indonesia is also making a profit. With such a large market, the world’s automotive companies not only make Indonesia a destination, but also began to make Indonesia a place of production. GM seven years ago were out of Indonesia, but again will make investments worth 150 million dollars to build factories that produce seven-seated van. Meanwhile Zhejian Geely Holding Group of China also plans to increase production capacity in Indonesia. Tata last month revealed plans to market their Nano in Indonesia. Meanwhile, companies like Ford that do not have a factory in Indonesia will also considering the possibility to open a plant in the state. Hyundai is predicted that the sale will have a 35% growth this year is also considering opening a factory in Indonesia.

Indonesia hopes to follow the footsteps of Thailand’s successful use of government policies and good infrastructure to attract foreign direct investment. Thailand is now one of the country who has the biggest vehicles production in the world, especially pickup trucks.

Joint delegation consisting of the Indonesian government and business leaders to introduce the message “Remarkable Indonesia” in the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2012 in Davos, Switzerland.

“Remarkable Indonesia” to describe the potential of Indonesia as one of world economic power with vast resources, resilience in the face of crisis, and the system of governance and responsible society,” said Minister of Tourism and the Creative Economy, Mari Elka Pangestu, in a written statement .

According to her, the message is very relevant to the theme of the WEF Davos in 2012, namely “The Great Transformation: Shaping New Models” (Great Transformation: Creating a New Model). Through the theme, she continued, the WEF which lasted until January 29, 2012 recognizes the importance to world leaders to create a new pattern in dealing with internal issues, regional and international, in the midst of the rapid dynamics of the world and the high level of connectedness between countries.

The event is a great opportunity to reinforce the strategic position of Indonesia on the map of the world economy, promote the country and attract investors to invest in Indonesia, “said Mari. Se also believes that all it would be a positive impact on economic growth in 2012 both this and the coming years.

Meanwhile, Commerce Minister Gita Wirjawan implied, WEF is a strategic moment for cooperation not only between countries but also between companies and communities. As already reported, the economic growth of Indonesia experienced a positive trend as Indonesia’s GDP in 2011 grew by 6.5 percent, higher than the global GDP growth of only 4 percent.

According to data from the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Indonesia’s cumulative investment in 2011 rose 20.5 percent to Rp 251.3 trillion, the value 4.7 percent higher than the 2011 target of Rp 240 trillion. In addition, Indonesia inflation rate also decreased to 3.79 per cent (yoy) from 5.1 percent in 2010.

Earlier, German Chancellor Angela Merkel opened the World Economic Forum (WEF) to-42, in Davos, Switzerland, Wednesday (25/1) in the midst of the threat of Eurozone crisis that still persists. Davos meeting in 2012 was attended by more than 2,600 people comprising government leaders, academics, business and civil society.

WEF meeting theme was “great transformation, to formulate a new model”. The theme chosen for the study reinforces the need for a radical return to the global economic system and the response to the economic crisis in many regions. “Capitalism can no more be expected to solve world’s problems today. We have failed to take lessons from the financial crisis in 2009. Global transformation is needed that starts from the awareness of a shared social responsibility” said Klaus Schwab, WEF founder and chairman.

Asahi breweries is ready to expand the business in South East Asia

Getty Images

Manufacture of soft drinks and bottled beer continues to experience growth in global food business. At the same time, slowing European economy in the last year apparently did not provide a decrease in enthusiasm for the companies producers of soft drinks and beer packaging for business expansion. The policy was actually carried out on companies from Asia. The condition was apparently utilize the food industry in Europe slump that lowered the production performance of soft drink and beer packaging.

Asahi Breweries is very well known name in the related industry. Even today the company has the largest market share of total production in Asia. Expansion policy that will be done had been expressed directly by the President of the Asahi Group Holdings, Naoki Izumiya which states that in the short term plans to expand its business into several countries in Southeast Asia such as Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines and Malaysia.

Observers say the policy is a solution of sluggish sales for this year’s Asahi in Japan. Factors weakening economic fundamentals after the earthquake and tsunami in March apparently reduces the demand for soft drinks in Japan. But outside Japan, the outlook where sales are still high enough at this year’s total sales of beverage products Asahi reached an increase of 6.6% or greater than the increase in sales at Kirin Holdings by 23.4%. Izumiya stated, the target profit for the year is expected to reach 1.3 billion dollars with a predicted increase in sales could reach 7.4%.

Challenges from Local Brands

However, this expansion effort will certainly not going to be smooth. Some countries in Southeast Asia mentioned above has a local product that can be used as a powerful rival in the business conducted by the Asahi expansive. In the Philippines for example, there is San Miguel Brewery, Thailand : Thai Beverage and in Indonesia PT Multi Bintang. Interestingly, San Miguel Brewery is a company that has been acquired by Kirin Holdings, which incidentally is a local rival for Asahi in Japan.

Lord of Alcoholic Beverage Market in Japan

Asahi Breweries was founded in 1889 and is the first modern alcoholic beverage companies established in Japan. Asahi now has a market share of up to 40% in Japan. Even the products of Asahi is identical with the Japanese alcoholic beverage known to the world. From a business standpoint, the development of Asahi Breweries continued to increase and expansion efforts have been made more than two decades. In 1990, Asahi Breweries bought 19.9% shares of Elders IXL, similar companies in Australia that has now changed its name to the Fosters Group.
